Calm breathing is an effective breathing technique used in HypnoBirthing to induce a state of relaxation. It is also used during periods between surges. To practice this breathing first make yourself comfortable, relaxing your arms to the side of you and your hands gently cupped. Then take a slow inhalation through the nose and count to 4. Then slowly exhale through the nose counting to 8. Keeping your mouth closed and allowing the breath to drift down throughout your entire body. Relax the shoulders and feel your shoulders move down away from your ears.
